Fahrenheit 451 pages 3 to 21

1) Ask a question that you have about what's going on in the novel. What do you find confusing?
A: One thing that i found confusing about this part of the book was the kind of writing that they used the descriptive metaphors. An example of this would be when they would use a certain metaphor and I didn't see how they had anything in common.
Q:Why is there so many metaphors that don't have anything in common such as in the beginning of the book.

1) Even before Montag and his wife Mildred talk to one another we know that they are alienated (distant) from one another. How does the author convey this?
A: I think that the author conveyed this by saying that the wife had been waiting for a long time and that showed a bad relationship.

Hii :P

1.) Many metaphors were used in this book to make the book more descriptive. Even if they don't seem to fit into the scene, you have to visualize it to understand it.

2.) & I agree, Mildred & Montag are in a bad relationship. They may seem like they live distant, but what the author really means is that they do live together, but they don't communicate as husband and wife. As if they live in two different worlds, under the same roof.
