Farhenheit 451 pg. 156-End of the Book

1.My question
"Why is it that Montag just doesn't give up and stop trying to save the books in the world since he is almost dead now."

2.For the Second Quote:
Why I thought that this quote means is that if he manages to save the books and later on in the future and someone asks him he will remeber the time that he saved the books. That is what I think this means.

Fahrenheit 451 pages 136-154

1. One question that I have about the book is what ever happened to Clarrese because they never really clarified on what happened to her on her disapperence?

2. One way that Montag has changed from the beggining untill now is that in the beggining of the book he was a regular fireman just burning things. Now in the book he is now a thinker and he knows what he used to do was wrong. That is one way that he has changed throughout the book and how his personality has changed. Now he actually feels bad about what he has done.

Fahrenheit 451 pages 125-136

What I found exciting about this book was when Beatty takes Montag to his house to burn his house and he actually escapes even after they burn his house. What sucked for Montag was that his own wife ditched him and left him. It was cool when tag ran away even though he burnt his own foot off since it was poisoned.

Fahreinheit 91-110

My summary:
Basically what happened at the living room was that when Montag read a page to ladies while they where doing their Parlor games Montag read a poem. One of the ladies began to cry for some reason and she did not know why. The incident that happened with Captain Beatty earleir in the book came back to haunt him because now they were going to burn Montag's house.

My Quote:
The Quote that I chose was “The room was blazing hot, he was all fire, he was all coldness; they sat in the middle of an empty desert with three chairs and him standing there…”. The reason I chose this quote was because it feels like if I was there and I was experiencing what was happening in this quote. This forces me to use my senses and I can see the blazing fires and I feel them.

F451 pgs 80-91

My question:
Why doesn't Montag get rid of the books while he has a chance before he, his family, and his books get burned.

Question B:
The plan that Faber explains to Montag is to put books in the other firemen's houses and frame them for having books at their house. If this plan were to work the firemen's houses would be burned to ashes. One reason that their plan won't work is because there is not enough followers that would help this plan come to life and there is only a little bit of books that are left in the world. Another reason is because it would be to hard to plant the books where they need to be so this would be another challenge that they would encounter.

Something I am looking Foward To

One thing that I am looking foward to is going to Sherman with my friends and playing soccer with them. When I play soccer and I finish I feel like if someone dumped a cool bucket of water on me because of how much I sweat when I play. My sweat keeps me so cold I feel like if it was snowing around me. Sometimes i take my reebok weights and strap them around my legs so i get more muscle on my legs. It feels as if I had two rocks straped to both of my ankles which is not a very comfortable place to put weights. I am determined to make something out of myself when I play soccer because i enjoy playing that sport and I feel joy when I play with my soccer ball. My ball smells like crap because of how many people's cleats have kicked and where this ball has landed( catch my drift what dogs enjoy to do everywhere ). It sends chills up my spine when I have to take it back home and I smell it. When I play soccer you always see me smiling because i am having the time of my life. When i run I enjoy the cool breeze going against my chest, The bright sun beating on my face, and also when i play in the warm nights. It feels like if I had my blanket on my body because of how hot I get. Some of the people that I know there are hialrious and i feel like if I was Watching a comedy movie because some of them say stupid stuff that is funny. Sometimes i overhear them talking to each other. Then the day ends, everyone starts to leave Sherman, it starts getting lonely and then it gets as empty as space.

Fahrenheit 451 pages 68-80

1. Write a question about the reading. What are you confused about? If you don't get an answer on your blog, be sure to raise the question in class. Even if you do get an answer, and you think it's a good question with a good answer, bring it up in discussion.

One question that I have is that why does Mildred hate books so much and why is she scared of Montag reading them. Does she fear Montag getting to know about people that never existed.

B. How will books get us out of "the cave?" What is the cave and how will books get us out of it?

A: I think that basically what the cave reffers to is the state of not being aware of what is happening in the world and not knowing what happened then. I think that the books have the key to getting out of the cave because they have information that the firemen are trying to get rid of by burning the books. The books could tell the people what happened when the book was being written in their own time. The firemen basically try to keep the people in "the cave".

Something I Dread....

AHHH!AHHHH my own best friends try to jump me at the trolley station, This also happens at the bus top. The bus driver is my friend but since I go for America so he tries to kick me off the bus but I am stubborn so I won't get off. The bully is funny but he is fat like my little brother. He also has hair that looks like a jungle because he does not take good care of it. The other bully is tall and skinny. He also looks like rocker cause of how he dresses. These two bullies love to pick on me. The other thing that I hate is getting up in the morning and eating cereal with milk because it makes it all soggy and it fell`s like baby food which I hate. This forces to me to eat as fast as the Flash runs which is really quick. These are all the things that brings pain.

Fahrenheit 451 pages 40-68

Q:
Captain Beatty tells Montag that firemen are the “happiness boys” and that they are custodians of “our piece of mind.” Why does he say this? Be sure to include the problem with minority opinions, individual thought, and the historical conditions that made this possible. Use quotations and other evidence from the text in your response.

A:
The reason that captain Beatty says that the firemen are the happiness boys is because they are the ones that clear up the minds of other people. He believes that by erasing someone's books he would make people happy and also make peace. He thinks that he is making scientists happy because books just disprove someone's ideas or calling their thoughts stupid. One other thing that he says is that he also gets rid of books that have thoughts that are against minorities so he also gets rid of those kinds of books. One thing that he says is that books say nothing so there is nopoint in keeping them. That is what he said in the book. Another thing that he told Montag after he found out that Montag found the book was that if he didn't get rid of the book in twenty four hours he would burn the book himself so that means that Beatty doesn't know what books have in them. Beatty also believes that it is better not to be educated and just be go on and not know anything because you may not believe it

Fahrenheit 451 pages 21 to 40

1) One thing that I don't understand about the reading is how Montag keeps running into Claresse even though he is never even searching for her. Also I want to know if Claresse has any family.

2) There is many ways that the people in the book are like the people today and different. One way that they are different is that people today don't spend time to smell flowers and do childish things. People now a days rely on technology for entertainment and Claresse shows that you don't need technology to have fun. Now we don't even wonder about anything such as what is on other people's minds and in the book they spend time talking and ask random questions. Now all people talk about is new gadgets and cars and other material things. Some things that we have in common is do stuff for fun and then sometimes we work. Another thing that we have in common is want and wish for things to happen.

Fahrenheit 451 pages 3 to 21

1) Ask a question that you have about what's going on in the novel. What do you find confusing?
A: One thing that i found confusing about this part of the book was the kind of writing that they used the descriptive metaphors. An example of this would be when they would use a certain metaphor and I didn't see how they had anything in common.
Q:Why is there so many metaphors that don't have anything in common such as in the beginning of the book.

1) Even before Montag and his wife Mildred talk to one another we know that they are alienated (distant) from one another. How does the author convey this?
A: I think that the author conveyed this by saying that the wife had been waiting for a long time and that showed a bad relationship.
